Fitting or replacing valves from a valve amplifier

Please make sure the amplifier is NOT connected to the electricity supply before removing or installing the vacuum tubes.

If you are removing valves, wait until they have cooled down before attempting to remove them.

The vacuum tubes are packed and marked with the appropriate locations

To remove a valve, use a dry cloth to grip the old valve by the base, pull the valve vertically upwards. The valve is simply pressed into the valve holder so there should be minimal resistance.

To install a new valve, gripping the new valve with a dry cloth, align the notch and pins on the new valve with the socket and push the valve firmly into position. If there is resistance, check the pin alignment and ensure the pins are being seated correctly.

If you replacing any of the larger power valves on an ultra linear valve amplifier such as the Separo E34i or the Separo P88i then you should re-bias the amplifier.
